April 28, 2009 Dancing with Scarves

Today we are getting back into our daily routine of doing activities together now that we are feeling better. Today's second activity was Dancing with Scarves. I thought we would have fun and get some exercise since we have been laying around resting for days with the flu. We cranked up the music and danced around the house with our scarves. Sophia was flapping her arms and walking around having a blast. Hopefully, we burned off some energy and calories at the same time. Here the photo snapped as the scarf fell.

The following photos are a few more scarf dancing photos.

This was a really fun activity that we both enjoyed and got us up and moving with very little preparation. I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us.

April 28, 2009 Wishing for the Sunshine

Today Sophia is trying to keep busy inside. I know she was wishing for the sun when she put on her shades. We had two activities to do today. The first one was making indoor colored bubbles in a soda bottle. Sophia loves to blow bubbles outside but since it is dreary out today, we tried a new activity. She loves shaking up the soda bottle and making indoor bubbles.
We also learned a few songs last week which she now loves. We have been practicing the "Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee" song and learned how to play "Ring around the Rosie". She loves to see mommy fall down on the ground. I guess it is pretty silly to see an adult fall on the floor and roll around like a kid. She sings along as best she can which is adorable. I need to record this when I get a chance because it is so cute. She even does the hand motions to the "Baby Bumblebee" song and says, "Baby Bumbobee...." We also sing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and she does all the hand motions to that song.
We are still working on the "Hokey Pokey" but haven't mastered that one yet. I think that is going to take some time.
Today's other activity is a physical activity emphasizing gross motor skills development called dancing with scarves. We have yet to do that but I think it is going to be a hit with her.

April 27, 2009 We are sick and Sophia is taking care of mommy

Sophia is taking care of her parents today. Scott and I were both sick with a stomach bug that we got from Sophia.  Here she is comforting mommy while watching Elmo.

Today Sophia was a little cranky when she woke up from her nap so I told her we would fix her pretty hair. She sat still enough that I was able to put two pigtails in her hair today.
Since it was raining all day, I thought we would do some singing to cheer her up. We learned two new songs today. "Rain Rain Go Away" and "It's raining, its poring the old man is snoring"

April 25, 2009 Thomas the Train

This weekend we took Sophia to Toys R Us to check out Thomas the Train.  Although I can admit I was disappointed because I expected a person dressed up as Thomas the Train, I think Sophia enjoyed the event. She played with the train tables there and saw her friend Adam.  A story was read about Thomas and we made an engineer hat out of cardboard that didn't last long. There was a coloring page to color as well, but Sophia was much too short to reach the table.  Also, since she colors at home on her little table, I really didn't push her to sit and do that activity.

Sophia checking out the crayola merchandise.  She slipped several of these toys and some crayola color wonder packages into the shopping cart when we weren't looking.  At least, I noticed those before we got ready to leave the area.

Here all the girls are playing on the swingset.  The twins are in the baby swings and Sophia and Zelleta are riding the seesaw.

April 23, Playdate Lunch

Annabelle playing on her toy.
Sophia and Zelleta eating lunch.  It was funny that Chris and I set the chairs that the girls are sitting in across from each other on the patio and the girls move them next to each other. I guess they are becoming friends.

Here are all the girls having lunch together.

This photo was really cute because they are both eating at the same time and smiling at their mommies.

April 17, 2009 Rock -A - Bye Baby Doll

Sophia is rocking her baby in the swing.  She puts all her dolls in her old swing, her bouncy seat and put them in their beds. She also gives them bottles, binkies, and puts diapers on them.  It is so sweet to watch her playing dolls.

Here you go baby.  She is giving the baby a push.  "un!!", exclaims Sophia.  Fun to the rest of us.

April 14, 2009, Playing Dress-ups with our cat

Sophia is such a girly girl playing dress-up. She often goes into her room and starts pulling out all of her hats. She puts them on me and on her own head.  Today, she decided that she should try them on our cat too. The cat was being very good letting Sophia do this.  That cat is very tolerant of little Sophia.  They have been the best of friends since Sophia was born.

Oh dear, not only was she putting hats on the cat but also putting leis on the cats. I think the cat was starting to get slightly agitated here.  She doesn't look very happy.

April12, 2009 Eating Jello Easter Eggs

This is good!

Mmmm!

Yummy!

Grandma is well-known for decorative Jello molds. She made colorful Easter Eggs made out of Jello. As you can see from the pictures, they were a hit with Sophia.

April 12, 2009 Easter Egg Dyeing and Decorating

The Easter Bunny came and hid plastic eggs all around our house for Sophia. When we were done finding them, I decided we need to dye and decorate the real hard-boiled eggs. I started dyeing the eggs and looked up to find that Sophia had reached out and cracked one open and was eating it. It was pretty funny to see her peel an egg all by herself and dig right in. I showed her how I was coloring them to make them pretty and she didn't steal anymore. However, when I was finished coloring them, she enjoyed putting stickers on them and placing them in the cardboard holders as shown in this photo.

She also decided because they were so pretty, she should try to eat them with the shells on as pictured here. I then proceeded to show her again how to crack and peel an egg. She tried it after I did it. She thought the colored eggs were even better. She exclaimed, "Yummy Yum!"

Here she is putting little stickers on the eggs.

I love the intense concentration on her face as she places the sticker on the egg.
