Kaylee's Second Birthday - Eating or Wearing the Birthday Cake

Cake!

Yummy!

Sophia was a little messy too.

MMMM!

Mommy feeding Kaylee the chocolate nose.

More nose.

Eating some of the cupcakes that were the from for the nose.

Poor Kaylee looks like the Joker from Batman with all that icing on her face.  I am a little emotional about Kaylee turning two. I am sad that she is moving forward and will no longer be my little baby.  I am happy for her though that she is growing into a sweet active little toddler that speaks in sentences.  She is so filled with kisses and hugs and snuggles.

Kaylee's Second Birthday - Happy Birthday 2nd Birthday

My sweet affectionate little Kaylee loves Mickey Mouse and Mini Mouse and watches the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse program each day.

Kaylee is opening her presents.  It is a little hard to tell from the box but this is a kid-sized barbecue grill so she can grill dinner outside like we sometimes do.
Look at that serious expression.  She is very focused on what is inside that box mommy is about to open.

Uncle Mike tells Kaylee if she will push it over to him, he will build it for her.  She of course can't wait to see it so she pushes the box as big as her over to her Uncle Mike.

Watching Uncle Mike build the barbecue grill toy.  While Uncle Mike is building the grill. The girls decide to entertain themselves.

They decide to make party hats out of the tissue paper since we didn't have party hats this time.

Sophia made this crazy party hat all by herself.

I was impressed by her skills of paper folding and shaping.

Kaylee got some new pajamas with Mini Mouse on them

Uncle Mike helped her look at the front of them.

Kaylee hold up the pajamas so we can see Mini Mouse.

Kaylee is giving her favorite sister a big hug for the Strawberry Shortcake card and the Mini Mouse dress up doll.

Kaylee excited about a new book.

Wow!  Mommy, it is a new baby.  Kaylee received a doll like her sister has so they can play together.

She looks excited.

Whoa Kaylee point that ketchup bottle towards the burger.  You would have just squirted mommy in the face if that were a real ketchup bottle.  She is adding ketchup to my hamburger.

Oops, are these sprinkles I am putting on the hamburger?  That's okay.  We will pretend they are seasonings for the meat.

MMM!  That looks delicious!

Kaylee's Family 2nd Birthday Party Preparations

Sophia dressed her Sophie doll in a party dress to bring to the party because she knew there was going to be a special surprise new friend arriving for Kaylee. She wanted her doll to be ready to meet her sister's new doll.

Sophia loves playing dolls and is displaying her big bright smile which is always on her face.

While I was making the birthday cake, Kaylee woke up from her nap.  I had to figure out a way to keep her entertained so she wouldn't climb on the table and stick her fingers into the cake. I let her sit in her booster seat (BEST PRODUCT EVER) and let her sample an extra mini cupcake with chocolate fudge icing that I had already dyed black.  As you can see, she was a fantastic taste tester and even wore some of it on her face during the sampling phase of the cake decorating before the party.  I was worried her face was going to be stained but luckily Dawn Dish detergent takes off black cake dye.
I originally intended to make Mickey Mouse with several round cake pans of various sizes, but realized that two heart shaped tart pans made a bow so I made Mini Mouse instead.  I am no "Cake Boss" when it comes to decorating cakes but I think this will work for Kaylee's birthday party.

The Cardinals Home Opener- The Matching Pujols Jerseys

So the other day Scott and Sophia were discussing the Cardinals Home Opener. Scott told Sophia that she should go try on her STL Cardinals jersey to see if it fit.  Well, honestly, it is a bit too small but she might wear it a few times until we get her a new one.

Meanwhile, Scott said to Sophia, "Our matching Pujols jerseys are obsolete because Pujols went to the Angels team."  She looked at him in disbelief and turned towards her room and started crying.  It was so sad. We thought she was sad because her favorite hero had moved to another team.  I told her it would be okay and not to worry about it too much. What I didn't realize at the time, was she didn't understand the conversation.

Later that day, we were sitting down to have some lunch and she turned to me and said, "Mommy, why did Pujols go to the Angels?"  I casually told her they offered him a lot of money.  " She turned to me and started crying again and said, "Mommy, I am very sad that he went to see the Angels.  I am so sad that he died."

I stopped what I was doing immediately and peered into her sobbing eyes as I realized what she was saying.  She was crying because she thought Pujols went to see the Angels in heaven and that he had passed away and that is why her jersey was no good. My heart sunk to my toes as I hugged her and reassured her that the only baseball hero she has ever known was still alive and well and playing for another baseball team called the Angels.
