Walk Now For Autism Speaks on September 19

I know I haven't been doing very well updating my blog lately. I apologize to my readers. It seems that I have as usual just bit off more than I can chew in life and am trying to manage everything around my household, keep Sophia happy and healthy and squeeze some work in here and there. Well, now I have added about 4 other things to my already busy life this week but there is one that is very important to me personally. If you have known me for any length of time, you know that I love children with a passion and would do anything to help them. I wanted to teach preschoolers for the longest time and yet never really pursued that dream.

So I recently have volunteered to help my beloved sorority Alpha Xi Delta by volunteering to be an assistant advisor. I am very excited and am enjoying my role meeting and helping the girls. Along with helping these college girls, I am offering to participate in our newly adopted philanthropy which is Autism Speaks. With a purpose so near and dear to my heart of helping children, I have opted to participate in a the Walk Now for Autism Speaks and raise money for this cause. I truly believe in my heart that there are mysteries out there that need to be solved regarding how this is diagnosed and "cured" and I use that term lightly. With my limited background in psychology, only1 class short of a psychology degree, I understand that a disorder in this spectrum is not really cured but controlled. I know I am blessed to have a perfectly healthy child but some are not so lucky. I have a friend whose child is aflicted with this disorder and would love to help in any way possible.
So, I am asking your support. Sophia will be walking with me on September 19 to help other children is all she will understand. I need to teach her that helping is the right thing to do. She may have to ride in the wagon for part of the trip, but she will definitely be with me.
