So for those of you who don't know what geocaching is, simply defined it is a the hip new way to do a treasure hunt using modern technology called a Global Positioning System (GPS). It is in essence a high-tech game of hide and seek played outdoors with small items of little value. It has recently become popular in our area and my husband and daughter had to check it out. A typical geocache is a small toy or trinket left in a small waterproof container hidden in the woods. Often then are hidden in a crack in a tree, under a log, or maybe hidden near a bridge. The trinket would be found using the GPS locator. We downloaded an application to our mobile phone and can look for treasures near us.
Sophia and her daddy went geocacheing on their walk tonight. The treasures she collected are shown above. I didn't even know my husband knew about geocaching, but I guess he does. They are already planning their next trip and what treasures they will leave for the next geocaching trip.
Sophia is proud of her treasures.
