Spring Fling

We went to the Spring Fling event hosted by the Wentzville School district. Sophia read a book, made a bunny, and made a duck out of construction paper. Her favorite part of the event was building with these large cardboard building blocks. We spent most of out time at that station.

A Toddler's Logic - Banana in the cat food bowl

There is no photo to accompany this but I had to post it so I wouldn't forget about it.  It was just so cute, I had to share.  Out of the mouths of babes comes the cutest things sometimes.  Here is this morning's:

Sophia says to me this morning, " Mommy, I drop my banana in the cat's food.  I can't eat it!  You eat it!"

Nice! I guess I need to tweak that idea a bit of not eating things when they fall on the floor or in the cat's dish.

From the Wisdom of Little Bear

We spent a little time outside yesterday afternoon just to get out of the house. We have been stuck in the house all week sick so we needed a change of pace.

I told Sophia get your coat on we are going out to play.  She insisted on wearing her raincoat and boots but it didn't matter to me since I was desperate to get some fresh air.

So we went outside and played. Sophia took some of her summer toys outside and played. We went around the side of the house and I started walking down the hill. I told her to follow me so I could keep tabs on what she was up to.

She stood at the top of the hill and said, "Mommy, I can't walk down the hill! I will slide down like Little Bear and his friends."

You gotta love that!  My daughter is gaining wisdom from "Little Bear," a show for preschoolers on Nick Jr.

I thought Greeeaaaattttttt! As she slid down the hill I wondered how will I get the grass stains out of her blue jeans.

Learning the Letter "C"

This weeks letter is "C"
Posted by PicasaThis week we are talking and learning about the letter "C".  Sophia had fun gluing the face on this letter as you can see. In the photo at the top she is applying the glue to the paper pieces. In the bottom photo she is applying the paper facial features to the "C".  She is actually counting to 10 here as she holds the glue until it adheres to the paper.

The many faces of my beautiful baby girl

My husband thought he would try his hand at a new hobby of forming a mosiac from tiny photos of Sophia that we collected over the past two years. Above is his artwork.

This mosiac is compromised of 2300 unique photos of Sophia ranging from birth through today.

I am very proud if his digital photography artwork because his subject is my favorite little girl.

Great job Scott on putting together such a pretty piece of Sophia's childhood into an elaborate piece of artwork. I love it!

A Thousand Sophias - The Many Faces of Sophia

Posted by PicasaApparently we have a lot of photographs of Sophia at almost two a half years old. My husband made this collage of a thousand Sophias. Sometimes, it feels like there are a thousand Sophias running around here especially on days like today where she skipped a nap.

Sophia's new hat

I made Sophia a new hat during her naptime today. Here, she looks pretty happy to model it for me.

Tea party and a Teddy Bear welcome home party

Sophia set up the tea party and put all her little friends around the blanket, "Nano"

Serving fish crackers to all of her furry friends.

Daddy suggested that Sophia borrow his computer table for the tea party.

Sophia telling us who all her guests are at the party.

Asking each bear if they are thirsty and want some tea

Oops, pooh bear fell down.

"Here 'Lucky Bear' you sit in the Elmo chair."

Laughing at her daddy.

Helping Mickey Mouse eat his fish crackers complete with yummy yummy comments.

Sophia had a tea party for her new bear, Lucky, that she made at Build A Bear. She brought out the Nano's as a table she told me. Then, she placed the bears all around Nano for the tea party. Without any prompting from us she grabbed her bowl of fish crackers and put one in front of each bear. It was priceless to watch her tell us who was all at the tea party and then give every bear a fish cracker to eat.

Alpha Xi Delta sponsored an event to raise money for Autism Speaks, a charity, that was adopted just recently as their philanthropy. I being an advisor to the current chapter felt that we should support the girls in their efforts and thought this would be a great way to get my daughter involved in helping fellow children.  She loved it.  The girls thought she was adorable and praised her for being so generous to make a bear for their event. Being a mom,  I knew it was in my best interest to keep the waterfall tears from flowing by letting Sophia pick out a bear of her own to take home as well.  I told her we were making a bear for kids but that she could also pick one out for herself too. I knew she wouldn't fully understand when she made a bear and had to give it up so I let her make one for the kids and one for her. She had a blast as you can see from the photos above and the slide show below.

Happy Snowy Valentine's Day complete with Snow Dog Angels

Posted by Picasa
My husband took me out for a wonderful Valentine's dinner the day before Valentine's Day at Spiro's so we could spend the day as a family on Valentine's Day with our darling Sophia.  One of our family activities of the day was taking the dog and Sophia out to play in all the snow.

We had a blast.  As you can see from the photos, not only did Sophia enjoy playing in the snow, our dog got into the fun too.  Sophia enjoyed picking up snow and making snowballs and tossing them on the dog and her daddy.  The dog was hilarious rolling around and kicking her feet in the snow making snow dog angels.  Sophia laughed so hard at the dog, I thought she was going to burst.  I don't think we could have planned a more fun early evening if we tried.

I also love that it was still snowing when the photos were taken because it actually shows up on the pictures as little sparkles.  Happy Snowy Valentine's Day February 14, 2010.
