Boating vacation July 31, 2010

Sophia sporting her new life jacket on her "boating chair" as she likes to call it.

Poor kaylee is in a lifejacket in her baby harness. I am not sure she can move in this but it is how I carried her down the steps and onto the dock and into the boat.

Mommy's got you Kaylee Mae

The wait staff is pretty young here on the boat. No worries though she will accept tips in the form of contributions to her college fund.

"Daddy, do you need a beer?" asked Sophia.

"Here, captain roger. Here is beer for you too!"

Relaxing in the boat on the water

A happy baby in the cabin of the boat.

Sophia and Grandma, sunbathing beauties tanning their legs and feet.

Kaylee sunbathing with her SPF clothing over her swimsuit protecting her from the rays.

Wind blowing in my hair, waves crashing around the boat, holding my sweet baby kaylee and watching my darling Sophia enjoy the day; life doesn't get much better than this.

Comparing the girls at three months

Sophia at three months. Sophia was still laying down and smiling at us a lot at three months. She had not even tried to roll over until four months and was not yet holding her own head up but she was super smart. She was trying to imitate me talking and had figured out that there wasn't any milk in her pacifiers so they were of no use to her. I really think that her not taking a pacifier may be the reason for her talking so early. I will never forget the day I was sitting on the couch holding her in my arms and she looked me right in the eye and said, "milk!" at four months. I thought I was going crazy and then my husband heard her say it too and she hasn't stopped talking since.

Kaylee at three months. Kaylee is much more physically motivated than Sophia. Kaylee holds her head up and can sit in a Bumbo seat as pictured here. Kaylee rolled over at two months on june 26th and has been rolling over ever since. Not only does she roll over but she also scoots around on her back or belly if she is trying to get somewhere. She is a girl with a high determination and motivation to move.

"Baby Snuzzle" (patent pending)

Kaylee is using the "Baby Snuzzle" (patent pending).   I designed this as an original gift for my friends who were having babies about the time we were due.. I wanted to make something unique, useful and cute. After several trials and ideas, this was the end result.   It can be used as a bottle holder blanket (shown above) burp cloth, beautiful bib, baby towel, and an emergency diaper if needed.  I thought, "with a baby around who couldn't use one of these?"  For the past few months I have used some of these around town with my own kids, and people have asked me to make them for them for baby gifts.  So, I am in the process of getting them patented and selling them online.

If you need  one, I sell them through Google.  The widget for purchasing them is to the right of the post. Thanks for reading my blog.

Puppy skirt

I whipped up this little skirt this morning. This was a cute little scrap of fabric we found in the remnants bin a couple months ago for less than a dollar and Sophia loved it so we made a skirt. I serged this skirt on the serger this morning.  I didn't use a pattern so it is a one of a kind.

We needed a way to carry "Nano" blanket around without dragging on the floor so I made Sophia a quick drawstring backpack to carry "Nano".

Doctor Sophia strikes again

I was across the room doing do some housework and Sophia informed me that sister had a boo boo and she would take care of it. I figured she meant a pretend boo boo so I didn't think much of it until later that day when I was holding Kaylee and discovered she had a beautiful strawberry band-aid covering her birthmark.

How to catch a dancing bear by kaylee Mae

Here are two short videos of kaylee in her bassinet trying to catch the dancing bear mobile swirling around her head. I am not sure why the video posted upside down.  Sorry about that. You will just have to stand on your head to watch it.

Fringe fancy pants

I serged a cute pair of fringe fancy pants. Sophia picked out the "Hello Kitty" fabric for these pants. These pants were made with a three thread coverstitch on the serger. I used a pattern for the basic shape but sewed the seams outside rather than inside to create the fancy fringe on the sides, ankles, and waistline.
