May 12, 2009 Happy Mother's Day - 4 Generations

Sophia and her Grandma and Great Grandma on Mother's Day

Sophia insists on taking her Grandma and Gret Grandma's hand before we can leave because I have taught her we can't go anywhere without holding hands so she doens't get awa form me when we are walking outside or in parking lots. She told those grandparents, hold hands to go go.

Happy Mother's Day Grandma, Deb, Great Grandma, and Sophia

We have a very big celebration annually for Mother's Day.  I think Mom's do so much for their kids that they really do deserve one special day devoted to them.  Now that I am a mom I realize how much mom's are always doing for others all the time.  So, it was very nice to let someone else do the work and just enjoy the company of family.  For as long as I can remember we have been celebrating Mother's Day this way.  We go to the Viking for a delicious fancy brunch and enjoy our special day just eating and visiting. I am glad that we can now share this wonderful day with Sophia.

Note to Sophia
Sophia,
You mommy loves you very much! You are a beautiful child and I am blessed to have such a wonderful and amazing child in my life. I also wanted to say Thank you for the fragrant tree knockout rose bush, the calming candle and the Frank Sinatra CD. You are the apple of my eye little Angel.  My life is so much better because of having you in my life.   You make me laugh and smile each day.
Love Always,
Mom Mom

May 12, 2009 Our New Pet, hopefully not for long....

So, I do not have room in my life for any more pets because we have too many, however, an animal has decided to grace our lives with it presence. While I was out trimming the hedges and old rose tree today a hummingbird flew into my garage. I am not sure why he went in there, but he refuses to leave.

Here is the stubborn little fellow. He finally stopped flying around but I can't seem to get him to come out of the garage. I have left the garage open most of the day hoping he would leave on his own. I also, tried to swoosh him out with a broom. He doesn't seem to want to go so I guess he is going to stay in there overnight. I can't say I blame him since it is a bit chilly outside, but I would think he would want to get back to his home before nightfall.

Here he is in flight...

Here is another shot. Since I guess he is spending the night with us, I pulled the hummingbird feeder inside so that he won't starve overnight. I guess he will help himself to some nectar. I will try again to get him out tomorrow. I really need to close our garage so I guess he will be trapped. I hate to do that. He is a wild animal and needs to move on out.
Sophia sure enjoyed watching him saying, "Bumbo Bee, Bumbo Bee." She could hear him buzzing around since it echoes inside the garage and thought it was a Baby Bumblebee like the song we sing everyday now.  Then, I told her it was a bird and she started saying, "Beep, Beep." That is how she says, "Tweet, Tweet" for a bird sound.
The odd thing about this is that we just watched the movie "Benjammin Button" last night. If you have seen the movie, you would understand the connection.

May 8, 2009 Pretty as a Princess Primping before the Ball

Under the Sea we must get prepared for the biggest event of all the Seaweed Ball. First, we check out the Little Mermaid vanity only to fnd that we have lots of cool stuff to play with on the table. Ariel appears in the mirror and greets Princess Sophia. It is voice activated so Ariel asks, " Do you want to use the brush, the scissors, or the curling iron? Sophia grabs the blow dryer.

Laughing at herself in her mirror..

Putting her make-up on..

Talking with her pals on the seaweed cell phone glancing in her mirror.

May 8, 2009 Pretty as a Princess - Part two

There is a curling iron
More Make-up application

Straightening Mommy's hair

Blow-drying Mommy's hair

So a mom has to wonder how her 1 1/2 year old daughter knows how to use these tools almost instinctively. I mean  I know she watches me get ready sometimes, but how does she really know these pretend beauty tools are like the real tools and their purpose.  I guess girls just know these things.  I was amazed that she knew how to use them all and even used them on me. Oh, it is so much fun raising a girly girl.

Here is the slideshow of all the fun we had...

May 1, 2009 No Hat to wear, in a pinch, shorts will do... just too funny not to post

One of Sophia's funnier dress-up outfits. Sophia likes to dress-up and is particularly fond of hats. When there are no hats nearby, she just grabs a pair of shorts and puts them on her head as shown here
